~ The Pink Cherub Brochure has an error in a rehearsal date for February.  There is NO rehearsal on February 19, as listed.  It should read February 29.  February dates should read:  1, 8, *15, 29.

 

 

 

Choir and choral season 

Pick up a bright green Music Ministry brochure which outlines specific groups and opportunities to serve in the area of music.  It also highlights the Parish Choir's schedule for the 2011-2012 choral year. There are also brochures for the Youth and Cherub Choirs with schedules for this season. Come join a group and share your gifts and talents!

NATIVITY OF OUR LORD MUSIC MINISTRY OPTIONS

 

 

CHERUBS CHOIR:  This group is available to children grades 4K through grade 2.  They meet on selected Wednesdays for practice at the St. Mary's site.  These little ones help lead some parts of music, and participate in portions of the music for Mass approximately five times a school season from October/November through April.  Contact:  Holly Spiegelhoff

 

NATIVITY YOUTH CHOIR:  This choir is available for children in grade 2 through grade 8 (or higher if desired).  The kids meet most Wednesdays after school from 3:00 to 4:00 after a quick snack.  Practices are focused on group singing skills and some basic fundamentals of choir singing as well as leading specific parts of the Mass including the Psalm.  They meet during the school season starting in September and ending in May and lead music about once per month.  (Schedules vary from year to year).  Contact:  Holly Spiegelhoff

 

NATIVITY PARISH CHOIR:  This choir is open to all adults and young adults (beginning in grade 6) and leads music for Confirmation Mass, Christmas Vigil, Triduum and First Communion in addition to approximately five other Masses throughout the season from September through May.   Focus is on traditional choral style and improving technique over time.  Practices for the larger Masses are usually held on Thursday evenings at 6:30 and posted in the bulletin (occasionally subject to change). NATIVITY WOMEN’S SCHOLA:  A group just for the gals!  These women are middle to high school aged and up and meet one hour prior to the scheduled Mass but occasionally hold a separate rehearsal for learning new music and Mass settings.  They lead music approximately one time per month at the 10:30 Mass.  Contact:  Ruth Hempel

 

GUITAR GROUP:  This group is open to any guitar musicians (and vocalists) and meets an hour prior to the scheduled Mass for practice.  They lead music for the 10:30 Mass approximately one time per month.  Contact:  Mary Dahl

 

GENERATIONS ‘N SYNC:  This contemporary-style group leads music for the 6:00 pm Mass held at the St. Joseph church/Steven’s Street site.  They meet prior to mass to practice and occasionally additionally to learn new music.  It is open to middle school aged kids and up.  Contact:  Lori Novak

 

CANTORS:  Those interested in serving in the role of Cantor/song leader or Psalmist must attend a yearly cantor workshop/training session. Cantors are scheduled for most 7:30 and 4:40 Masses throughout the year.  Students in middle and high school by invite only and also must attend a training session.  Contact:  Holly Spiegelhoff

 

OTHER MUSICIANS/INSTRUMENTALISTS:  Skilled accompanists are always needed and encouraged to share their talents!  Other musicians have many opportunities to participate in the various groups.  Interested musicians can contact the Director of Liturgical Music, Holly Spiegelhoff at the Parish Office.
